Marianne obtained her BSN in 1994 from Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio. She worked in a Cleveland, Ohio Neonatal ICU and then a Pediatric ICU for several years upon graduating. While traveling as a Pediatric ICU nurse, she fell in love with Alaska. She moved here to permanently live in 1999. She has worked in the areas of adult intensive care, ambulatory surgery, and as the UAA Nursing Lab Coordinator where the initial interprofessional simulation center of Alaska was developed under her direction. She went back for her Master’s in Nursing, Family Practice focus, and graduated in 2012. As a nurse practitioner, she has enjoyed working in the community, at the UAA Student Health and Counseling Center, and currently with the Providence Alaska Medical Center Palliative care team.
On a personal note, “Palliative care has brought joy back to my career by giving me the opportunity to utilize my many years of healthcare experience to holistically support, serve, and care for patients and their families.”
