Meet Us

Our past fellows have come from Alaska as well as other states from the Lower 48. They selected Providence Alaska Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship for various individual reasons and with a common aim of wanting strong clinical training in a unique and diverse cultural and environmental setting. Their primary training has included different specialties: internal medicine, family medicine, emergency medicine, anesthesiology and medical oncology. Some have been seasoned attendings in their inital specialty for years and sensed a draw to palliative medicine at mid-career. Others arrived fresh out of residency training, pursuing palliative medicine as a career from the start. All have shared in the desire to provide compassionate whole person care to those facing serious illness, sought excellent training in palliative medicine within a supportive environment and were eager to experience the unique beauty of Alaska.
