Medical Director of Pediatric Intensive Care & Inpatient Pediatrics

Dr. BJ specializes in neuro-resusciation (treatment of brain injury), trauma, respiratory failure, heart failure, pain management, among others. She emphasizes the need for family and other support personnel to be present with children during crises, and is an advocate for family-centered care.

BJ was born in Detroit, completing her BS in Chemistry, Medical Doctor, Pediatric Residency and Pediatric Chief Residency at The Children’s Hospital of Michigan at Wayne State University.

She then completed her Pediatric Critical Care and Pediatric Anesthesia Fellowship at The Children’s’ Hospital in Boston, at Harvard Medical School.

She has been the PICU Medical Director at Boston City Hospital, (Boston’s leading trauma center), and attended at the PICU’s at Hasbro Children’s Hospital (Providence, RI) and New England Medical Center, (Boston, MA). She has been an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Boston University, Brown University and Tufts University Medical Schools.

She arrived to Anchorage in September, 2001 after sixteen years of practice as a Pediatric Intensivist
